Electoral Roll Online Form

The Church Electoral Roll is a register of electors; it is the list of those qualified to attend and to vote at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting where the elections take place for the parochial church council (PCC) and the parish's representatives on the deanery synod.  By enrolling you become a voting member of the Church of England and help to ensure that the Synodical councils of the Church are fully representative of its members.

There are no obligations of membership. There is, however, an expectation of electoral roll members that they will be willing to consider supporting the church financially – either in a small or large way. The Church of England, despite being the Established Church, receives no support from central Government for its running costs (except for via the Gift Aid scheme – see below). Each local church therefore relies on the freewill donations of its parishioners to cover the cost of providing for the whole body of active clergy across the nation. Our parishes are committed to paying their rightful share of these costs.

We would ask every member of the electoral roll to consider, if not already doing so, making a regular financial commitment to the church, even if that is just a single annual donation, and to do this, if a taxpayer, via the Gift Aid scheme which means that the value of your donation can be increased at no cost to yourself (forms available here).

Notes:

* Those who become 16 during the next 12 months may complete the form and become eligible to be entered on the roll on their sixteenth birthday.

The only Churches at present in communion with the Church of England are other Anglican Churches and certain foreign Churches

Membership of the electoral roll is also open to members in good standing of a Church not in communion with the Church of England which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity where those members are also prepared to declare themselves to be members of the Church of England.

Every 6 years a new roll is prepared and those on the previous roll are informed so that they can re-apply.  If you are not resident in the parish but were on the roll as an habitual worshipper and have been prevented by sickness or absence or other essential reason from worshipping for the past 6 months, you should complete a paper form (available to download from here) and add "would have habitually attended, but was prevented from doing so because"... and state the reason alongside option B on the form
